1. A “Counselor of the Day” will be available on a daily basis before and after school, during break and lunch to assist students. 
2. Students who want to see their assigned counselor can come to the office at the above times.  If a student’s counselor is not available, the student can fill out a “request to see my counselor” slip and place in the "call slip" blue box.

College/University Representative Visits to SPHS

College reps will be on campus for information sessions.  Students need to see Mrs. Ross in the carreer center  to sign up.

You must submit proof of completion of any off campus courses by May 21st at 3pm. If you do not submit proof of completion of any off-campus course by May 21st then you will not be cleared to check out on May 22nd (Senior Check-Out Day). The deadline to submit proof and receive clearance to check out, receive graduation tickets and participate in the graduation ceremony is May 27th at 3pm. Ways to submit proof of completion of off-campus courses are outlined below:

-Palomar College Courses: You mus submit an unofficial transcript with your grade(available online) to your counselor. You must rquest that an official transcript be sent to Mrs. Dalley, Registrar in order to get your diploma.
-BYU online classes: BYU can fax course results to counseling office at (760) 739-7315.
-Adult Education: The Adult Ed. Office must submit the course completion form to Ms. Dalley.
-Other off-campus classes: Please see your counselor as soon as possible to determine the best way to submit grade (s).

Unofficial off-campus transcripts/records will allow you to be cleared to check out and participate in the graduation ceremony. OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS must be received by Mrs. Dalley, the Registrar, in order to receive your diploma. Please see your counselor if you have any questions.

Palomar College Early Acceptance Assessment Session will be at SPHS on:
Thursday, March 12th and Friday March 13th.

All students must come into the counseling office starting February 17th in order to sign up for the exam.

The two-day college exploration trip was a success!! We visited USC, UCLA, CSU Long Beach and UCI. Thanks to Kafi Swaniker, Michelle Wiese, Ramon Jaime and Jessica Evans for being wonderful chaperones to the 36 students who attended the trip. 

Did you know that the ACT is the preferred test for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. This is something to keep in mind if you are applying to this University. You can also go to www.ess.calpoly.edu/admiss/act.html to learn more information about the ACT as the preferred test.

10-12th graders who are interested in receiving Athletic PE credit for a spring sport may come into the counseling office  and see Mrs. Dalley. The deadline is Friday, February 2oth before 3:30pm NO EXCEPTIONS.

School safety is a priority and we want your student to learn in a relaxed, safe environment.  Our school district participates in the WeTip program.  WeTip is a way to report safety concerns anonymously.  Please talk to your student about using this valuable tool.  Students may report bullying, vandalism, drug sales and trafficking, and anything that puts the well-being of our students at danger.

Frosh Factor:  The first week of school freshman students participated in week long team building activities. The week ended with an all 9th grade house pride assembly.

CSUMentor: All freshmen students are encouraged to develop a “student planner” on the CSU Mentor website. The planner will assist students with making sure they are meeting college requirements and will assist in exposing your student to higher educational opportunities available to them. www.csumentor.edu

College Applications:
* Colleges prefer online applications.
Cal State applications are available Oct. 1st the deadline is Nov. 30th. The ACT or SAT must be taken by the November test date for San Diego State, CSU San Bernardino, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and others. Students should check with the campus of interest for test requirments and deadlines.
Did you know that you can send your SAT score report to all CSU campuses for one price by listing the CSU mentor institution code 3594.

UC applications are available Nov. 1st the deadline is Nov. 30th.
Private applications depends on the school. It is best to contact them for their deadlines.
  
Reminder: Most schools accept all test scores-SAT or ACT and SAT II (UC only) through the December test date. There are exceptions so refer to the college/university’s official website to see if you need to have your tests done by November.

Letters of Recommendation: Students needing letters of recommendation for any purpose should make the request to a counselor or teacher at least 2 weeks in advance. Students should also provide a resume or student data sheet (in counseling office) to the person writing the letter. Please keep in mind our holiday break is at the end of December and some applications are due at the beginning of January before we are back from the holiday. The deadline date to request a letter is Friday December 5th!

Free, Online Tutoring at the Escondido Public Library

The Escondido Public Library has a new after school service  - Live Homework Help.  Live homework help is an online tutoring service featuring one-to-one homework help sessions.  Help is available in math, science, social studies and English.  The service is free for all students and can be accessed from the library or from home.  Please visit the counseling office for more information.

Tutoring in any subject will begin the 3rd week of school in room 215 and the schedule is:

M, Tu, Th, F 2:35 - 3:35

W 1:15 - 2:15

Tutoring in math will continue in room 216 (Mrs. Hollis) on Tues/Thurs 2:35 - 3:35.
