Guidance Center

Congratulations Class of 2009!! We are so proud of you.

The last day student's are allowed to change their schedule for the 2009-2010 school year is Friday August 21st. School Board policy states that after the first ten(10) day period  changes will only be made with the approval of the administrator of curriculum. Any corrections made after the first four weeks may result in a Withdraw/Fail (W/F) and a W/F may be posted on a student's transcript.  Please refer to the parent handbook and student handbook (page 18) regarding schedule corrections.

Thought for the month:  "No one can go back and change a bad beginning but anyone can start now and create a successful ending." unknown.

SPHS COUNSELING PROGRAM Beliefs:

We believe all students....

  • have dignity and worth
  • are capable of academic achievement
  • have the right to know all academic and career options in order to make informed decisions
  • deserve equitable access to a rigorous education
  • have the right to the benefit of a comprehensive school counseling program provided by a credentialed school counselor

Counselors are available for academic, personal/social and career counseling.

How does a student request to meet with their counselor?

1. A “Counselor of the Day” will be available on a daily basis before and after school, during break and lunch to assist students.
2. Students who want to see their assigned counselor can come to the office at the above times.  If a student’s counselor is not available, the student can fill out a “request to see my counselor” slip and place in the "call slip" blue box.

How does a parent request to meet with their student’s counselor?

In order to best meet the needs of our students, please call your student’s counselor to make an appointment using their direct phone line or you may contact Mrs. Perez, Counseling Secretary at 291-6049 for assistance.
